Chiefs take on Redmen in first round of playoffs

After disposing of the Brampton Excelsiors Thursday to end the Major Series Lacrosse regular season, the Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs prepare for the Brooklin Redmen.
Johnny Powless scored the first two goals of the game, with Dan Dawson adding two more, while Dave Brock and Ethan O'Connor added singles during a six-goal first period outburst as the Chiefs ran away with a 10-4 win in Brampton.
Jeremy Thompson, Randy Staats, Craig Point and Jordan Durston also scored goals, while Cody Jamieson pitched in with five assists.
Dillon Ward was solid when called upon, making 39 shots, while his teammates fired 44 at Tyler Carlson.
The Chiefs end the MSL regular season with a 11-5-2 record, one point behind the second-place Redmen.
The best-of-seven MSL semifinal series begins Wednesday in Brooklin at 8 p.m., with Game 2 back at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena on August 6 at 7 p.m.
