Ward nominated for NLL Goalie of the Year award

The National Lacrosse League has announced three finalists for the 2016 NLL Goaltender of the Year award. The New England Black Wolves' Evan Kirk, Toronto Rock's Nick Rose and Colorado Mammoth's Dillon Ward are all first-time finalists after being voted as the top trio of netminders in the league this year.
Ward finished first in the NLL with a career-high .800 save percentage, second with a career-best 10.33 goals against average, fourth in wins (7), and fifth in both saves (511) and minutes played (743:20). The third-year pro won five of his first six games this season and helped the Mammoth to a 12-6 record and playoff spot as Colorado allowed the fourth-most shots per game (52.56) but yielded the second-fewest goals per game (11.22). The 25-year-old from Orangeville, Ont., who played collegiately at Bellarmine University, was the third overall pick in the 2013 NLL Draft, the highest selection for a goalie in the league since 1999, and won NLL All-Rookie Team honors in 2014.
