Chiefs clinch MSL finals berth

The Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs are getting the chance to defend their Major Series Lacrosse title.
A tenacious defensive effort by the Chiefs contained the Brampton Excelsiors to only a pair of goals in the first two periods, while the offence did its part in a 11-6 win Thursday night at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
With the victory, the Chiefs win the MSL semifinal series 4-1.
Offensively, Kasey Beirnes led the Chiefs with three goals and one assist.

Beirnes, Randy Staats, Dhane Smith and Brandon Goodwin got the Chiefs off to a great start in the first period, with Mike Mawdsley responding for the Excelsiors.
In the second period, Beirnes, Powless, Dhane Smith and Stephen Keogh continued to keep the Chiefs rolling.

ne Excelsiors goal.
The Excelsiors showed no quit in the final frame, with Mike Burke scoring a pair, while Jayson Crawford and Brandon Benn added one each.
Beirnes, Staats and Goodwin added to the Chiefs count with one goal each.
The Chiefs defence was solid, helping Dillon Ward get the win between the pipes in a 22-save effort.
The Chiefs now wait for the winner of the semifinal series between the Peterborough Lakers and Oakville Rock. The Lakers lead that series 3-1.
