Benesch leads Chiefs over Excelsiors

When the Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs traded for Ryan Benesch, they were hoping to get an impact player.
On Thursday night in Brampton, he showed that he certainly is.
Benesch scored five goals and four assists to lead the Chiefs to a 19-5 win over the Brampton Excelsiors.
Benesch was one of seven different goal scorers in the first period. Johnny Powless, Roger Vyse, Randy Staats, Kasey Beirnes, Dhane Smith and Vaughn Harris also scored for the Chiefs, while Brady Heseltine and Mike Burke responded for the Excelsiors.
In the second period it was all Chiefs, as Benesch started the frame scoring three-straight goals, while adding another later on. Jeff Shattler and Staats each scored twice, while Craig Point added one.
Kyle Perreira scored for the Excelsiors late in the period.
Smith Harris, and Point rounded out the Chiefs scoring in the third period, while Connor Sellers and Brandon Benn netted goals for the home team.
Dillon Ward won his third-straight game between the Chiefs pipes, making 45 saves. After three games, Ward has a staggering 3.00 goals against average, and .928 save percentage.
On Tuesday, the same two teams meet again, this time at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena at 8pm.
