Jeff Shattler showed why he was the Six Nations Pro-Fit Chiefs big off-season acquisition.
The former National Lacrosse League Most Valuable Player scored twice in the first period and added four more in the second to lead the Chiefs to a 9-4 win over the Brooklin Redmen at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena Tuesday night.
The Chiefs now lead the best-of-seven Major Series Lacrosse semifinal series 2-0.
Scott Defrancesco got the Chiefs on the scoreboard just over a minute into the game, before Shattler added his first two goals.
Kiel Matisz responded for the Redmen midway through the period, before Kasey Beirnes netted a power-play goal late in the frame.
Beirnes then scored his second goal of the game just over a minute into the second period, before Shattler put on a goal scoring clinic netting four unanswered.
Shawn Williams stopped the bleeding for the Redmen late in the period, while Curtis Knight and John Lafontaine scored third-period markers.
The Chiefs chased Mike Poulin out of the Redmen net scoring six goals on 19 shots, before Zack Higgins came in and allowed three on 25. Brandon Miller was again sharp when called upon, making 34 saves.
The series resumes Thursday in Whitby at 8 p.m., with Game 4 back at the ILA Saturday at 7 p.m.
